Surrounded by dense sal forests, grasslands, and natural riverbeds, this zone offers visitors a refreshing jungle experience with good opportunities to observe wildlife and birds.

Located near Ramnagar, Jhirna is accessible through the Dhela Gate, making it a convenient option for travelers planning a jeep safari. The area supports a healthy ecosystem where animals such as elephants, deer, and predators thrive naturally. Scenic forest trails and water sources also attract various bird species, creating a rewarding experience for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers.

Jhirna Zone – Open Throughout the Year

Jhirna is one of the few safari zones in Corbett that remains open even during the monsoon season, making it a suitable option for travelers visiting outside the regular safari months.

Visitors can also stay inside the forest area at the Jhirna Forest Rest House.

Visitors travel through a forest buffer area after the entry gate before entering the main Jhirna safari zone.

  • Forest rest houses are not available inside Sitabani

Staying closer to the gate can help with early safari entry and travel convenience.

Best Time to Visit

Although open all year, the best wildlife viewing period is generally:

  • October to June: Better wildlife visibility and active animal movement

During monsoon months, the forest becomes lush and green, though road conditions may vary depending on rainfall.

  • Safari permits must be booked in advance

  • Entry is limited, so early booking is recommended

  • Only authorized jeeps and registered guides are allowed inside the zone

  • Maintain silence and keep a safe distance from wildlife

  • Avoid plastic, littering, or feeding animals
